GTM engineering and RevOps
GTM stands for go-to-market. GTM engineering is building the system behind how a company sells: the data and automations that find the right accounts and reach them when they’re ready to talk. Then every reply goes to the right person.
A GTM engineer builds the system that runs your campaigns, inside the tools you already use, instead of running them by hand.
A GTM engineer designs and builds the setup your sales and marketing run on. That usually means mapping your market, enriching and cleaning your data, setting up outbound, routing inbound leads, connecting your CRM to everything that feeds it, and automating the manual work in between.
The output is a working system your team uses every day, documented so someone else can run it.
Your GTM system is everything that turns a market into revenue: who you target, how you find them, how you reach them, how leads are routed and followed up, and how you report on what’s working.
Most teams have the pieces in separate tools. We bring your sales and marketing together into one system, built inside your own tools.
RevOps, short for revenue operations, gets your sales and marketing working from the same data and the same reporting. It covers your CRM, lead routing, reporting and the automations between your tools.
Every build we do includes RevOps work: clean data, reporting that shows which campaigns turn into meetings and revenue, and sales and marketing working off the same plan.
They overlap. RevOps keeps your CRM and reporting in good order day to day. GTM engineering is the build underneath: the data, signals, outbound and automations that create pipeline in the first place.
We do both, then train your team to run them.
A GTM engineering agency builds go-to-market systems for other companies. Some build the system and then run it for you on a monthly retainer.
We build it inside your tools, train your team and hand it over. There’s no retainer, and you own all of it.
Your GTM stack is the set of tools your sales and marketing use: your CRM, data and enrichment tools, email and LinkedIn sending tools, website forms, scheduling and reporting.
The usual problem is tools that don’t talk to each other, so we connect what you have before adding anything new.
Not to get started. A full build leaves you with the system, a trained team and a named owner on your side to keep it running. If you hire a GTM engineer later, they start from a documented system rather than a blank page.
About Groundswell
We build modern GTM systems that you own. We bring your sales and marketing together into one system, with human-first AI built in. Then we train your team to run it and hand it over.
Groundswell was founded by Charlie Brown, who spent years in B2B sales and consulting before he started building GTM systems. Charlie does the client work himself, with no account managers in between.
His credentials: Clay Certified Expert, HubSpot Certified, GTM Engineer certificate and GTMHQ Expert.
B2B companies with sales already coming in. You have at least two people in sales and one in marketing, a large market to go after, and someone ready to champion the build.
If you’re running outbound for the first time, you’re an early-stage startup, or you’d like an agency to run everything for you on retainer, we’re not the right fit.
Maybe not. Here’s a quick test: do you know what is working to get deals closed? If one SDR left tomorrow, would pipeline hold? Is AI integrated and actually making a difference? If you’re confident on all three, you probably don’t need us. If not, that’s the gap we fix.
Yes. We work remotely with B2B teams in the UK, the US and elsewhere, and prices show in US dollars or pounds sterling.
Not in the usual sense. An agency on retainer runs activity for you every month, and pipeline stops when the retainer does. We build the system inside your tools, train your team and hand it over, so it keeps working after we’ve gone.
What we build
Every build starts with the base: clean data, your whole market mapped, your best accounts ranked so your reps know where to start, reporting that shows which campaigns turn into meetings and revenue, and Claude correctly set up on your business.
From there, you choose what fits how you sell: reaching accounts when they’re ready, outbound, inbound, sales and marketing working together, and automations. We only build what you’ll use.
Signals are the moments that make someone worth contacting: hiring for a role you solve, changing jobs, visiting your site, attending an event or engaging with a competitor.
Reaching people at those moments means fewer, better-timed messages. Our Signals build lets you pick any three buying moments, and costs $9,000, plus $2,500 for each extra.
Intent data is evidence that a company may be in the market, for example visiting your website or engaging with a competitor. We use it as one of the signals that decide who to contact and when, alongside hiring and job changes.
Your ICP, or ideal customer profile, describes the companies and people most likely to buy from you: industry, size, the roles you sell to and the problems you solve. Everything downstream depends on it, so we map it with you before anything gets built.
TAM stands for total addressable market: every company that could buy from you. Our TAM build maps your whole market in one place, plus more accounts like your best customers, in 2 weeks for $7,500.
You’ll need CRM access and your closed-won deals. It doesn’t include outreach, or ranking your accounts.
ABM, account-based marketing, means working your best accounts one by one, with outreach timed to what’s happening inside each.
Our ABM build ranks your best accounts, so your reps know where to start, and finds the moments that matter for each one. It takes 2 weeks and costs $7,500. You’ll need your market mapped, from TAM or your own.
A sending setup that protects your main domain, and your first email or LinkedIn campaign live, with a real person taking over on reply.
It takes 3 to 4 weeks, plus 2 to 3 weeks of warm-up on new domains, and costs $7,000. You’ll need a target list, from TAM or your own. Running campaigns after launch isn’t included.
Hot leads go to the right rep, fast, and the rest are routed to nurture. It takes 1 week and costs $3,000. You’ll need your website forms and CRM access.
Lead routing decides who gets each new lead, and how fast. Hot leads go straight to the right rep on rules you agree, and the rest are routed to nurture until they’re ready. It’s part of our Inbound build.
A CRM you can trust and reporting you can believe. We remove duplicates, standardise your records and set up reporting on definitions you agree, so a number means the same thing to everyone.
It takes 2 weeks and costs $9,500. You’ll need CRM admin access. Moving to a new CRM isn’t included.
Lost deals brought back into play, non-responders passed to marketing, and sales calls feeding your messaging. It takes 2 weeks and costs $8,000. You’ll need outbound live and a call recording tool.
The manual work your team does now: moving data between tools, enriching new leads, creating CRM tasks, setting follow-up reminders and building reports. Small repeatable tasks run on their own, and the system asks for a person when one is needed.
AI set up on your business and used every day, with your team trained to use it. It takes 2 weeks and costs $6,000. You’ll need a Claude team plan and a GitHub account. Custom skills beyond the starter library aren’t included.
Tools we work with
We build inside the tools you already use. The ones we work with most:
CRMs: HubSpot, Salesforce, Attio, Pipedrive and GoHighLevel.
Data and enrichment: Clay, Apollo, Prospeo, Findymail, Dropcontact, Icypeas, RevenueBase and AI-Ark, with MillionVerifier and ZeroBounce to verify emails, RB2B for website visitors and Apify for custom scraping.
Email and LinkedIn: Smartlead, Instantly and Salesforge for email, and HeyReach and Expandi for LinkedIn.
Automation and AI: n8n, Claude and the workflows built into your CRM.
Yes. Clay is at the centre of most of our builds: it pulls data from many providers, enriches and verifies it, runs research with AI, and sends the results to your CRM and outreach tools. Charlie is a Clay Certified Expert.
Clay is a data platform for go-to-market teams. It brings dozens of data providers into one table, so you can find companies and people, add work emails, phone numbers and company details, research them with AI, and push the results wherever your team needs them.
Waterfall enrichment checks several data providers in turn until one returns a good result, for example a verified work email. It finds more than one provider would alone, and it stops at the first good result, so you don’t pay every provider for every record. We set it up in Clay.
Yes. HubSpot is a great CRM, and we’d keep it. We make HubSpot your source of truth and build what feeds it, so you can trust what it tells you.
HubSpot is a great CRM, and we’d keep it. It’s only as good as the data and processes in it, and it needs other tools feeding it to find your accounts, spot buying moments, show which channels are working and allow you to reach out safely. We make HubSpot your source of truth and build what feeds it, so you can trust what it tells you.
Yes, if it’s HubSpot, Salesforce, Attio, Pipedrive or GoHighLevel. We build inside the CRM you already have. Moving to a new CRM is a separate piece of work.
Usually Smartlead, Instantly or Salesforge, sending from separate domains and inboxes so your main domain is protected. We set up the domains and inboxes, warm them up, and keep your CRM and sending tool in sync, so nobody is contacted twice or after they’ve opted out.
HeyReach or Expandi, running from your team’s own LinkedIn profiles. Email and LinkedIn run as one campaign, and a real person takes over as soon as someone replies.
We use n8n for most automations, plus the workflows built into your CRM. If you already run Zapier or Make, tell us on the consultation and we’ll work out whether to build there.
Often not. We build inside the tools you already use, and the Blueprint tells you which tools to add and which to remove. Where a build needs a new tool, you pay for it directly, so the account is in your name.
No. You pay for your own tools directly, so every account stays in your name and keeps running after handover.
An AI SDR is software that writes and sends outreach on its own. Our builds use AI for the first touch, not the whole conversation: AI finds the right accounts, writes the first emails and runs research, and a real person from your team takes over the moment someone replies.
AI and Claude
Human first, enhanced with AI. AI does the first touch: finding the right accounts, writing the first emails and running research. Small repeatable tasks run on their own, and the system asks for a person when one is needed.
The moment someone replies, a real person from your team takes over. Trust is what closes deals, so your people stay in the conversation and in control of what goes out.
You can do parts of it, and you should. AI writes copy and enriches data fast. The harder part is designing the system around it: what data feeds it, which buying moments matter in your market, how leads are routed and when a person steps in. Most teams already have AI in their stack without seeing much change, usually because it was added to a setup that was never designed for it. We build the system with AI in it from the start, then hand you Claude set up on your own business so you keep using it after we leave.
No. AI won’t replace everyone in sales and marketing, just those not using it. Our builds give your people the research and a first draft, and keep them in every conversation.
Claude is the AI we build with and use every day. We set it up on your business, so your team can chat with the system to see what’s working, what’s not, and make changes as they go.
A Claude assistant that knows your system, answers your team’s questions and can make changes for you, plus your company GitHub and skills, and training so your team uses it every day.
You do. Nothing goes out in your name until you’ve approved the list and the message.
Outbound and deliverability
A lot of it is, because it’s volume with no reason to reach out. We build ours around two things, a reason to reach out and real moments. You either contact the right people with the right message and a genuine reason to reach out, or contact fewer people, at the right time, and a person takes over the moment they reply.
A combination of both is the best way to run this.
Not with the right setup. We send from separate domains and inboxes, so your main domain and your team’s own email are kept out of it. That’s the first part of our Outbound build: a sending setup that protects your main domain.
Deliverability is whether your emails land in the inbox rather than spam. It depends on your domains and inboxes, how they were warmed up, how clean your list is and how much you send. Bounces and spam complaints damage it quickly, so we verify every list before anything sends.
New domains and inboxes need a sending history before they can send at volume, and warm-up builds it gradually. On our Outbound build it takes 2 to 3 weeks on new domains, on top of the 3 to 4 week build. Rushing it is the most common way an outbound setup dies.
Your team. AI handles the first touch, and a real person is notified to take over as soon as someone replies.
AI writes the first drafts from your positioning and research on each account, and you approve every message before anything sends. If you’d rather write them yourselves, the Blueprint covers how to write your copy and build your lists.

A month of support is included. We fix anything in what we built, chat to us over Slack, with a reply within 24 hours on business days.
We build it, train your team and hand it over, and there’s no retainer. If you’d like an agency to run everything for you on retainer, we’re not the right fit.
